Allegany Stuns Women's Lacrosse in Overtime, 9-8

BUFFALO, NY--Allegheny (3-4) scored six consecutive goals to rally past host Buffalo State (4-4) for a 9-8 overtime victory today at Coyer Field.

Buffalo State claimed a 4-3 halftime advantage and extended its lead to 7-3 early in the second frame. Allegany responded with the final four goals of regulation, including three in the final 2:12 to force the extra period. The Gators jumped out to a 9-7 lead early in overtime, and held on for the victory.

Shantel Ackley (Baldwinsville/CW Baker) led the Bengals with four goals. Leah Bernal (Marilla/Iroquois), Tara Ammerman (Naples/Marcus Whitman), Chelsey Frail (E. Rochester/E. Rochester) and Jenn LoPresti (Amherst/Sweet Home) also scored for Buffalo State.

Buffalo State will open conference play on Saturday at Cortland at 1 p.m.
