Women’s Lacrosse to Make First-Ever SUNYAC Playoff Appearance

Buffalo State’s women’s lacrosse team clinched its first-ever SUNYAC playoff berth on Saturday with a 9-6 victory over Oswego. The Bengals wrapped up the regular season with a 4-3 conference record and are currently 9-3 overall. Buffalo State, the No. 4 seed, will face the top-ranked, and five-time defending champion Cortland Red Dragons in the semifinals in Cortland on Friday at 2:00 p.m.

Softball Earns Second-Seed for this Week’s SUNYAC Championships

Buffalo State’s softball team closed out the regular season on a 10-game winning streak and clinched the No. 2 seed in the SUNYAC playoffs after a two-game sweep over Geneseo on Sunday. The Bengals finished the SUNYAC regular season with a school record for wins at 16-4. Buffalo State will open the double-elimination tournament at Cortland on Thursday at noon against the as yet to be determined fifth seed.

Several Individuals Shine at SUNYAC Track and Field Championships

Justin Muise led the men's team with a pair of championships in the 400m dash and 400m hurdles with times of 48.89 and 54.56 respectively. Muise also took second in the 110m hurdles in 15.21. Ken Ciolek also captured a pair of titles, winning the javelin (54.66m) and the triple jump (13.20m). The Bengals' 4x100m relay team of Muise, Mike Taylor, Tim Giagios, and Chris Lape took second with a time of 43.14.

On the women's side, Mercedes Roper crossed first in the 100m dash with a time of 12.90. She also earned a championship with the 4x100m relay team with Desi Gibson, Linda Williams and Keyia Thompkins, clocking 49.12.
