Bihr Era Closes; Men's Basketball Stopped at Potsdam, 89-73
Buffalo State Head Coach Dick Bihr's 25-year coaching career came to an end tonight, as his Bengals lost at Potsdam (23-4), 89-73, in the SUNYAC Quarterfinals.
The Bengals sprinted out of the gates and led by as many as six points early. Buffalo State shot 54-percent in the opening 20 minutes and went into halftime tied at 39-39. Potsdam pulled away in the second stanza, however, holding the Bengals to 39-percent shooting pulled away for the win.
Jeremy Konst (Williamsville/Williamsville East) and Jay Wingate (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) led Buffalo State with 17 points each.
Ernst Ducena led the Bears with 21 points. Christian Turner added 18, and Edane Barton had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Buffalo State finished the season at 10-15. Bihr finishes his career with 449 wins, compared to 211 losses.
