BPS Superintendent Presents Year of the City Lecture: November 8

What better way to celebrate Buffalo State’s Year of the City than to host a presentation from the leader of Buffalo's public schools?

Pamela C. Brown, superintendent of Buffalo Public Schools (BPS), will present the November Year of the City lecture on Thursday, November 8, at 12:15 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center's Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Brown’s presentation, "Buffalo Public Schools: A World-Class Education for Every Child," will focus on her core beliefs and theory of action as well as strategies for improving the district.

"With many of our students and faculty members working in classrooms in the BPS, Buffalo State already is closely linked to the city’s schools," said Wendy Paterson, dean of Buffalo State’s School of Education. "We are delighted that Dr. Brown will address our campus and meet the faculty, students, and staff who are already so involved with her students."

Brown was sworn in as the BPS superintendent in July 2012. She has a wealth of experience in education that spans from classroom teacher to administrator. She is committed to achieving higher test scores and graduation rates for Buffalo students through strong curriculum, community and family support, and the belief that all children can succeed.

The talk, part of the Year of the City lecture series at Buffalo State, is presented by the School of Education Dean's Office and Buffalo State. The series features presentations about Buffalo State’s initiatives in the city of Buffalo and broad urban issues that are relevant to the Western New York community.
