Brockport Edges Men's Basketball, 80-74

BUFFALO, NY—Bryan Boswell (Amherst/Sweet Home) knocked down four free throws in the closing seconds to seal Brockport’s (14-6/8-4) 80-74 victory over Buffalo State (9-11/4-8) in a SUNYAC battle tonight at the Sports Arena.

Buffalo State opened the game on a 5-0 run and stayed a step ahead of Brockport for the rest of the half, taking a 36-32 lead into the intermission. The Golden Eagles outscored the Bengals 24-11 to open the second half and led by as many as nine. Buffalo State battled back and took the lead temporarily at 66-65 with 6:03 to play, but Brockport reclaimed the lead and held on down the stretch. Brockport outscored the Bengals 12-2 on the fast break and 20-14 off turnovers.

Dan Bellucci (Syracuse/CNS) led Brockport with 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting. David Andrews (Huntington Station/Walt Whitman) added 17 points and seven rebounds. Boswell finished with 12 points including the four clutch free throws down the stretch.

Gregg Jones (Syracuse/Nottingham) led the Bengals with 26 points. Freshman Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Jay Wingate (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) and Justin Konst (Williamsville/Williamsville East) added 11 and 10 points respectively.

Buffalo State will visit Cortland on Friday at 8 p.m.
