Brockport Tops Women’s Basketball, 69-60
BROCKPORT, NY—Buffalo State (6-15/3-9) dropped its third straight game despite 17 points and nine rebounds from Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK), as host Brockport (16-5/10-2) earned a 69-60 victory in a SUNYAC game at Tuttle North Arena.
Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) added 12 points and eight boards.
Buffalo State took the early lead, but Brockport mounted a 14-2 run midway through the half to secure a lead. The Golden Eagles led 35-30 at the half, but the Bengals cut the Brockport lead to a single point at 47-46 with 11 minutes to play. The Golden Eagles answered again with a 15-0 run over the next seven minutes, however. The Bengals went on a 9-0 run in the closing minutes to cut the lead to seven at 62-55, but Brockport hit 7 of 11 from the free throw line down the stretch to seal the victory.
Buffalo State will host Cortland on Friday at 6 p.m.
