Buffalo State Alumni Association Sponsoring 5K Run for Scholarships

The community is invited to join the Buffalo State Alumni Association for the 15th annual Bengal 5K Scholarship Run & Fun Walk, Saturday, March 31, at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

Race-day registration goes from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and the shot-gun start is at 9:30 a.m. in front of the arena. Teams and walkers are welcome.

Afterward, participants are invited to stay for a party and awards ceremony featuring refreshments from the Flying Bison Brewing Company and music from Buffalo State’s WBNY 91.3 radio station. Also, the first 500 registrants receive a gift.

The cost to participate is $18 for students and $20 for the general public. Teams of five or more cost $18 per person. After March 28, all participants pay $25.

Proceeds go toward the Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship Fund, which secures education funding for lineal descendants of Buffalo State alumni, and the Military Services Scholarship, which provides funding for honorably discharged student veterans, current active-duty military personnel, and their immediate family members.

“Whether you run or walk, by participating you will make a difference in the long-standing tradition of quality education at Buffalo State,” said Landrum Beard, assistant director of Alumni Affairs Office.
