Buffalo State College Community Orchestra Debuts November 23

Buffalo’s new college/community orchestra, the Buffalo State College Philharmonia, will hold its inaugural concert Monday, November 23, at 7:30 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall.

The 75-member orchestra, initiated by the Buffalo State Music Department, is comprised of experienced Western New York musicians and Buffalo State College students and faculty, all of whom auditioned for their positions.

The orchestra is under the direction of maestro Paul Ferington, who has been on the conducting staff of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for 25 years. The concert will feature the world premier of “Revels for Orchestra” by composer Steven Cohen, as well selections by Brahms, Glazunov, and Strauss. The event is free to all.
