Buffalo State College Holds 6th Annual Student Personnel Conference
The Student Personnel Administration (SPA) Alumni Chapter of Buffalo State College will hold its 6th annual professional conference on Nov. 9 at Campbell Student Union. The conference, which begins at 8 a.m., will include a welcoming address by President Muriel A. Howard and a keynote address by Willie Young, director of Off Campus Student Services at Ohio State University, as well as professional workshops for people in SPA-related fields.
During the conference, former Buffalo State College Provost Thomas Quatroche will be honored for his special contribution to higher education and student affairs. Also honored will be Dr. Gail Maloney, Buffalo State College's senior associate athletics director, for her achievement as "Outstanding Alumni" member of the year.
Designed for anyone interested in the field of student affairs, presentations have been developed for undergraduate and graduate students, professionals and faculty under the theme "The Developing Professional: Networking, Partnerships, and Collaboration." The presentations will include:

As director of Off Campus Student Services Young assists more then 40,000 commuter students, serves as a liaison between the college and the Columbus community and manages the community service office. He holds a master's degree in Student Personal Administration from Bowling Green State University and has worked in both public and private universities throughout his career.
Special contributions to higher education and student affairs honoree Quatroche served in a number of positions during his years at Buffalo State College including dean of students, professor and chairperson of the Educational Foundations Department, associate vice president for student affairs and vice president of student affairs. Recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, Quatroche holds a doctorate of higher education administration from Pennsylvania State University.
"Outstanding Alumni" Maloney, served as Buffalo State College's woman's basketball coach. She received her master's degree from Buffalo State College in 1970 and latter received her Doctorate from the University of Buffalo.
Buffalo State College's SPA graduate program is the largest in the United States.
