Buffalo State College Holds Flag Raising Ceremony to Celebrate United Nations Week
Buffalo State College will raise the United Nations flag on Oct. 21 at 12:15 p.m. in celebration of United Nations Week. Participants in the ceremony, which takes place in the quad outside Butler library, will include Buffalo State College President Muriel Howard, as well as faculty, staff and administrators and members of the University Police Department.
The United Nations was established in 1945 at the end of World War II to help stabilize international relations and give peace a more secure foundation. Throughout the years the organization has become much more than a peace-keeper and forum for conflict resolution. The United Nations has engaged in a vast array of work that touches every aspect of people's lives around the world. United Nations Week celebrates the organization and its achievements.
Buffalo State College will continue its celebration with a "Conference on Understanding, Cooperation and Peace" on Thursday, Oct. 24 in Rockwell Hall.
All events are free and open to the public.
