Buffalo State Earns Two CASE Gold Awards

Buffalo State’s College Relations Office has won two Gold Awards in the 2017 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District II Accolades Awards Program.

“The Meaning Of: Leslie Cohen, ’69, Beth Suskin, and the Monument to a Movement,” (1300 Elmwood magazine, summer 2016) won the top prize in the “Best Article of the Year” category. Written by Brian Kantz, publications director and editor of 1300 Elmwood, the article details the careers of two Buffalo State alumni who played a vital role in the gay liberation movement.
 

The 2016 Buffalo State College Impact Report won the top prize in the “Annual or Institutional Reports” category. The report describes the college’s academic, economic, social, and cultural impact on Western New York and beyond. The piece was written by Kantz and designed by Chantel Kutzbach, assistant graphic designer. Economic data was provided by Frederick G. Floss, chair and professor of economics and finance; William T. Ganley, professor of economics and finance; and Yuli Gomez Bravo, ’16, graduate assistant in economics and finance.

CASE is the world’s leading association for development, marketing/communications, and alumni relations professionals working in the field of education. District II is the largest CASE district, representing more than 700 institutions in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Canada, and the Caribbean.

Buffalo State is the only institution to win two publications-related Gold Awards this year. A jury of professionals from peer institutions determines the honorees in each category. The awards will be presented at the CASE District II Annual Conference in February.
