Buffalo State Invites Students, Neighbors to Get Acquainted

"Howdy, neighbor!"

Buffalo State is hosting its second annual Meet and Greet on the south lawn of the Richardson Olmsted Complex on Forest Avenue in Buffalo on Saturday, August 30. The event, which will take place from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., gives community members and Buffalo State students, faculty, and staff a chance to get to know each other. Reservations are required.

The family-focused event, which includes games, activities, food, music, and prizes, drew more than 200 people last year. "It's definitely a kid-friendly event," said Paula Madrigal, coordinator of health education programs for the Weigel Health Center.

Students are encouraged to wear their Buffalo State gear; members of the Bengal teams will wear their sports jerseys.

"This is an event for students, faculty, staff, and community members who live in, or who are highly involved in, our neighborhood," said Madrigal. "We're especially encouraging folks and businesses from the neighborhoods bordered by Forest, Grant, Potomac, and Elmwood."

Some student groups are also participating. SPiRiT Gospel Choir and Step Expression, both student groups, will be performing. Buffalo State’s Athletic Department is offering event tickets; Alpha Sigma Tau is featuring a no-sew blanket table.

“People really enjoyed it last year,” said Madrigal. “We’re looking forward to visiting with our neighbors again this year.”
