Buffalo State has selected Almaris Miranda to be the head coach of the Bengals' women's volleyball program. Vice President for Student Affairs Hal Payne and Athletics Director Jerry Boyes made the announcement.

Miranda inherits a program that has qualified for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoffs in each of the past two seasons and has posted a record of 50-25 during that span.

Miranda comes to Buffalo State with an extensive background in competitive volleyball. After serving as the assistant coach at Division I Binghamton for one season, she spent the past year coaching the junior varsity program at her alma mater Sweet Home High School, as well coached with the Cheetah Club. She has also served on the staffs of several camps and clinics, including the University of New Mexico Lobos Volleyball Clinic and the University at Buffalo Volleyball Camp.

"We are thrilled to hire someone with such a diverse volleyball background," Boyes said. "I am excited to watch Mia build on the recent success of our volleyball team and elevate the program to the next level."

A former standout at Sweet Home, she furthered her playing career at Division I University at Stony Brook. Miranda earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Stony Brook in 2001.
