Buffalo State "Welcomes Back" Nearly 400 Student-Athletes

Buffalo State Athletics held its first CHAMPS Life Skills program of the year last night in the form of its annual "Student-Athlete Welcome Back" Reception in the Sports Arena.

The event began at 6 p.m. with more than 130 first-year students participating in the "First-Year Extravaganza". New student-athletes were split into small groups and tied together at the wrists and sent through the athletics complex on a "scavenger hunt" to meet staff members and each other and learn of the many resources available to them.

Following remarks by Director of Athletics Jerry Boyes, the evening came to a close with a spirit competition between the freshman, sophomores, junior and senior before dinner was served.

Each student-athlete in attendance received an orange "Bengals Supporting Bengals" t-shirt with the motto "402 student-athletes, 19 sports, one team" on the back.
