Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul will visit Buffalo State College on Thursday, May 4, to hold an information session about the Excelsior Scholarship, the first-in-the-nation program to provide tuition-free college at New York’s public colleges and universities to qualified students and families.
Thursday’s information session will be held at 5:00 p.m. in Buffalo State’s Technology Building room 160. The event is open to the public. Current and prospective students, parents, families, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend and learn more about the program. Staff members from Buffalo State’s Financial Aid Office will also be available to answer questions.
The Excelsior Scholarship plan will be phased in over three years, with students from households making up to $100,000 annually eligible in fall 2017, increasing to $110,000 in 2018, and reaching $125,000 in 2019.
Additional information, eligibility requirements, and frequently asked questions about the Excelsior Scholarship can be found on the Higher Education Services Corporation website.
