Buffalo State's Anesetti and McMullan Garner ECAC West Women's Hockey Weekly Honors

Buffalo State senior Shannon Anesetti (Canonsburg, PA) and freshman Marissa McMullan (Haileybury, ON) were named ECAC West Women’s Hockey Goalie and Rookie of the Week, respectively, after helping the Bengals clinch their first playoff berth in five years.

Anesetti, an earth sciences major, made 48 saves in a pair of 1-0 shutouts at Oswego over the weekend. She stopped all 20 shots on Friday and made 28 saves on Saturday and now has six career shutouts.

McMullan, a health and wellness major, registered a pair of third-period game-winners, scoring with 4:37 remaining in Friday’s game and just 1:52 into the final frame of Saturday’s victory. She is tied for third on the team in scoring with seven points on five goals and two assists.

Buffalo State will make its first ECAC West playoff appearance in five years on Sat., March 1. The Bengals will enter the postseason as the No. 6 seed and will travel to the No. 3 seed, either Plattsburgh, RIT, Elmira or Utica.
