Buffalo State's Thompson Named Co-ACFC Defensive Player of the Week
Buffalo State cornerback Brendan Thompson (Buffalo/Seneca) was named the Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) Co-Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Bengals to a 27-0 shutout win over Apprentice at Saturday's homecoming game.
Thompson anchored a defense that forced five Builders' turnovers and limited Apprentice to just 137 yards of total offense. The junior had two interceptions, including one that he returned 12 yards for a touchdown. He also made five tackles and had three pass breakups.
Thompson will lead the Bengals this Saturday in a home date with Plymouth State a 1 p.m. Buffalo State defeated the Panthers 26-0 last season in Plymouth.
