Castagna to Receive SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award

Buffalo State's Sean Castagna (San Jose, CA/Ballarmine Prep.) will receive the SUNYAC Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award for Men's Hockey today from Chancellor King at the Wyndham Hotel in Syracuse, N.Y. today at a 3:30 p.m. ceremony.

Castagna has excelled on and off the ice since joining Buffalo State’s men’s hockey team prior to the 2003-04 season. This year, Castagna led all defensemen in the SUNYAC in league scoring with 13 points. He was rewarded for his efforts by earning First Team All-SUNYAC honors. In just two seasons, Castagna already ranks third in school history in goals by a defenseman with 10. He also ranks second in goals and points in a season by a defenseman.

In the classroom, the junior business major has also excelled, maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.67.
