Comedy Legend Steven Wright: November 5

Share
Steven Wright, aka the Dylan of deadpan, the Mozart of monotone, and/or the Bon Jovi of blah, comes to the Performing Arts Center at Buffalo State, Friday, November 5, 8:00 p.m.

Combining a razor-sharp wit and a snail's pace, Wright emerged on the national comedy circuit in the early 1980s.

Regular television appearances on "The Tonight Show" earned Wright a solid fanbase and reputation as a singular comedic presence.

For 30-plus years, Wright's absurdist observations have left audiences bewildered and beguiled from such punchlines as:

"I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she left me before we met."

"If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?"

"To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research."

Steven Wright performs as part of the 2010-2011 Great Performers Series. General admission tickets are priced between $30 and $40 and may be purchased at the Rockwell Hall Box Office, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, by calling (716) 878-3005, or online at www.buffalostate.edu/pac. Box Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
