Cortland Tops Men's Soccer, 3-2
Cortland (6-4/1-3) scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute to defeat Buffalo State (6-3-2/2-1-1), 3-2, today at the Cortland Stadium Complex.
Cortland jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first half. Rich Gordon (Hamburg/Hamburg) put the Bengals on the scoreboard with a shot to the upper right corner off of a pass from Richard Namulala (Kenmore/Kenmore West). Matt Ketchum (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) evened the score in the 38th minute on a one-timer from Josh Mitchell (Schenectady/South Colonie). Cortland's penalty kick goal was the lone marker of the second half.
Buffalo State outshot the Red Dragons 15-11. Shawn McDonell (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) made five saves for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will play at Potsdam next Friday.
