Former Buffalo State student-athlete Nick DeMarsh has been named the school's head women's soccer coach. Athletics Director Jerry Boyes made this announcement earlier today.

DeMarsh takes over the women's program after spending three seasons as an assistant coach with the men's team. His additional coaching experience includes 10 years tutoring boys and girls at Joe Macknick No. 1 Striker Camps, and two seasons leading the Buffalo-Niagara Soccer Club's under-15 boys team.

During his playing days, DeMarsh competed on the men's soccer team at Buffalo State for four seasons in the early 1990's, earning All-SUNYAC honors for three consecutive years. Following his successful collegiate career, he spent one season with the Capital City District Alleycats of the United Soccer League, and was on the Buffalo Blizzard developmental squad for two years.

"Nick has done an excellent job for the past few years with our men's program," Boyes said. "He has a great deal of knowledge about the sport of soccer and is able to relate well with a diverse population of student-athletes."

DeMarsh, who earned his bachelor's degree from Buffalo State in 1996, also has his NYS Provisional Certification in Art Education as well as his USSF D Coaching License. He becomes the ninth head coach in the programs 22nd season, and will look to lead the Bengals to their first SUNYAC postseason berth since 1984.
