Design Department Students Participate in 2004 New York Eleven Student Exhibition
Buffalo State College's Interior Design Department has been invited to attend the 2004 New York Eleven Student Exhibition one of only eleven New York schools invited to exhibit at the event.
To address this year's featured topic, diversity, students did extensive research, exploring various cultures, religions, geographic regions and traditions. Interior spaces were created to demonstrated the heritages, traditions and cultures the students investigated. Working with the City of Buffalo's West Side Community Collaborative, students combined 15 independent cultural designs in a final presentation to create A Cultural Journey, to be displayed within kiosk structures on existing or vacant lots in the area.
The West Side Community Collaborative is an organization designed to improve area neighborhood housing, education, health, public safety and economic development. The students' designs serve to encourage education, exemplify diversity and showcase culturally sensitive interior design.
The exhibition will be held in Albany, N.Y., at the Legislative Office Building from March 29 through April 8, 2004, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. It runs again in New York City at the New York Design Center from April 12 through April 16, 2004, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Both are free and open to the public.
