Edwards, 4x100 Relay Advance to NCAA Track & Field Finals

OSHKOSH, WI—Buffalo State's Latoya D. Edwards (Brooklyn/ Clara Barton) qualified for the finals in two events today in the opening day of the 2008 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Edwards, along with Anika Niles (Brooklyn/ Samuel J. Tilden), Katya Marin (Mt. Vernon/ Mt. Vernon) and Chenell Coleman (Buffalo/ McKinley) ran the fifth fastest time in the 4x100-meter relay prelims, running a new school record time of 47.64 seconds. The foursome will run for the title on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Edwards also set a new school best in the 200-meter dash, also qualifying for the finals with the second-best time of 24.59 seconds. Niles (25.36) and Marin (28.30) failed to advance to the finals. The race for the national championship will be held Saturday at 3:35 p.m.

Edwards will also compete in the 100-meter dash prelims tomorrow.
