Field Announced for NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN—Four Bengals have been selected to compete at the Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships as announced by the NCAA earlier this week. Buffalo State's Latoya D. Edwards (Brooklyn/ Clara Barton), Anika Niles (Brooklyn/ Samuel J. Tilden), Katya Marin (Mt. Vernon/ Mt. Vernon) and Chenell Coleman (Buffalo/ McKinley) will all compete at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on May 22-24.

Edwards, a sophomore health and wellness major, will compete in her fourth NCAA Championships and leads all Buffalo State participants, qualifying in three events. She will compete in the trials of both the 4x100-meter relay and 200-meter dash on Thursday and will run in the 100-meter dash trials on Friday, with the hopes of advancing to Saturday’s finals.

Joining Edwards in both the 4x100-meter relay and 200-meter dash are a pair of freshman psychology majors in Niles and Marin. Niles enters as 24th in the nation with a time of 25.24, while Marin is 26th in 25.32.

Coleman, a freshman biology major, will compete as the final member of the 4x100-meter relay. She, along with Edwards, Niles and Marin set a new school record at the ECAC Championships last week, in a winning time of 47.89 which ties it for 11th –best in the nation.

The top-8 in each event earn All-America status. Buffalo State had two All-Americans at the indoor meet in Edwards (3rd in the 55-meter dash) and Mario Hicks (Corning/ Corning West) (5th in the 55-meter hurdles).
