Football Prepares to Welcome 100 Players for Preseason Camp
Second-year Head Coach Paul Shaffner will welcome approximately 100 invited prospective football players to Buffalo State’s 2005 preseason football camp beginning on Monday, August 15. Walk-ons will report on Friday, August 26.
The Bengals will welcome the first full recruiting class under Coach Shaffner and staff as the team begins preparation for its second season as a member of the Atlantic Central Football Conference with The Newport News Apprentice School (VA), Brockport, Frostburg (MD), Salisbury (MD), and Wesley (DE). Buffalo State will open the 2005 campaign with a home meeting with Ithaca on September 10, before embarking on a four-game road stretch with games against Wesley, Cortland, Frostburg and Salisbury. The Bengals will return to Coyer Field for “Homecoming” on October 22 against Apprentice. The Bengals’ regular season finale will be a home date with Brockport on November 12 in the annual “I-90 Bowl.
Buffalo State went 4-6 in 2004, finishing the year 4-2 over the final six games. The Bengals placed fourth in the ACFC with a 2-3 conference record. Buffalo State will continue its efforts to “Restore the Roar” as it competes in its final season in the ACFC before joining the New Jersey Athletic Conference for the 2006 campaign.
