Geneseo Holds Off Men’s Basketball

BUFFALO, NY—Scott Morton (Syracuse/Westhill) torched Buffalo State (5-10/3-6) for 39 points as visiting Geneseo (12-6/5-4) defeated the Bengals, 75-73, in a SUNYAC game tonight in the Sports Arena.

Neal Wilkins (Middletown/ Middletown) led Buffalo State with 20 points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Jamar Gray (Rochester/ Bishop Kearney) added 17 points and six assists, Glenroy Carr (Amherst/Sweet Home) scored 10, and Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) had eight points and nine boards.

Geneseo raced out to a 7-0 lead and had a 38-34 advantage at the intermission. Buffalo State took its only lead of the game at 55-53 with just over 11 minutes remaining, but Geneseo used an 8-0 run to regain the lead and held on down the stretch. The Knights outscored Buffalo State 24-9 from 3-point range.

Buffalo State will host Brockport tomorrow at 4 p.m.
