Getting Ready for the Runway 2.0 Fashion Show, April 25
Meghan Hirnle, a 2000 graduate of North Tonawanda High School, helps prepare for the 2009 Runway 2.0 fashion show, a unique collaboration between Buffalo State and the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Saturday, April 25.
This year's fashion extravaganza draws thematic inspiration from the Charles Burchfield exhibition currently on view at the gallery, The Romance of Urban Decay. Set against the panoramic backdrop of the Burchfield Penney's East Gallery, Runway 2.0 features the collections of students from the Buffalo State fashion and textile technology program and professional Western New York designers.
Hirnle, a fashion merchandising major at Buffalo State, puts her academic studies to work helping promote and stage the event, which includes paparazzi, a Joan Rivers character working the red carpet, and music by Them Jazzbeards.
Interviews with Runway 2.0 student-organizers can be found on YouTube.
Tickets to the student show, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., are $5–$7 and available at Rockwell Hall and Campbell Student Union box offices. General admission tickets to the evening show, from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. are $40 and include the fashion show, a dessert reception, and dancing following the runway show. V.I.P. tickets are $100 and include a 7:30 p.m. cocktail reception, first-row seating, and a swag bag of fashion goodies. Tickets for the evening show are available by phone at (716) 878-3254 or at the Burchfield Penney visitor services desk. For more information, visit www.Runway2.org.
