World-renowned taiko drummer Eitetsu Hayashi comes to the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall on Saturday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m.
Hayashi was one of the first musicians to bring this music style to the West, starting with a 1984 concert at Carnegie Hall. He has traveled throughout the world playing with many musicians in various styles. Local musicians joining Hayashi in performance will be Matthew Bassett, principal percussionist of the Buffalo Philharmonic and a Buffalo State Music Department faculty, and Joshua Smith, owner of SATO Japanese restaurant in Buffalo and a member of the Buffalo State Communication Department.
