Hoskins and Saxe Reappointed to College Council

John T. Hoskins Sr. and Gerald C. Saxe have been reappointed to the Buffalo State College Council by Gov. George Pataki, with Hoskins continuing as chair of the council.

Hoskins is chairman of the board of Curtis Screw Co., Inc., which produces high-quality custom turned metal components used primarily in the transportation industry. Employing more than 500 people in four plants, it is one of the largest consumers of cold-finished steel bars in the United States. In 1997, Curtis Screw Co., Inc. won the New York State Governor’s Award for Pollution Prevention.

A member of the board of directors of Merchants Mutual Insurance Company, Hoskins is a recipient of a Community Champion Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Precision Machined Products Association Merit Award, the highest award given by that group. He was elected to membership to Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Honor Society in Business and Management.

Saxe is president of Matthews, Bartlett and Dedecker, Inc. A member of the Buffalo Alliance for Education, he is on the boards of the Boy Scouts of America, Niagara Lutheran Home Foundation, Studio Arena Theatre, D’Youville College and the Rotary Club of Buffalo. Saxe is a recipient of the National Conference for Community and Justice Brotherhood in Business Award and an inductee of the Canisius College National Honor Society for Business Schools.

Both Hoskins’ and Saxe’s terms will expire June 30, 2011.
