Indoor Track and Field Competes at SUNYAC Championships

GENEVA, NY--Buffalo State's indoor track and field teams competed at the SUNYAC Championships at Hobart/William Smith Colleges today, with the men's and women's teams each placing seventh of nine teams.

On the men's side, Justin Muise (Kenmore/Kenmore West) and Eric Bream (Lockport/Lockport) led the Bengals with a pair of second-place showings. Muise was second in the 400-meter dash (49.74), and Bream finished second in the 500-meter dash (1:07.22). Joe Russell (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) was third in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.10. Beneito Bruner (Syracuse/Nottingham) added a fifth-place finish in hte 200-meter dash in 23.39. Todd Wassinger (Sanborn/Niagara-Wheatfield) set a school record, placing seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 13.68 meters.

On the women's side, Jenelle Orosz (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) was the top-finisher, placing fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.58 meters. LaVonne Barfield (Rochester/Wilson Magnet) added a school record and finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.14 meters. Camarra Winfrey (Buffalo/City Honors) was also fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.56.

Buffalo State will compete at the NYSCTC Championships at RIT next Saturday.
