KidBiz Market Training Session: May 7

Share
The Buffalo State College Small Business Development Center’s annual KidBiz Market will take place on Saturdays, June 18, July 9, and August 9. A small-scale entrepreneurial and educational program for third- through sixth-graders, the program allows young students to run an open-air market along bustling Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway.

To be part of KidBiz, each student must bring a parent or guardian to a brief orientation session. The Get Ready for KidBiz training takes place on Saturday, May 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in E. H. Butler Library 210. This overview covers ideas on what to sell, provides tips on how to serve customers, and offers guidance on how much to charge for items.

Participants can sell anything that will fit on their table–toys, crafts, clothes, or food and drinks.

“Many of the kids we work with are Buffalo’s future entrepreneurs,” said Andrea Lizak, associate director and business advisor of the Small Business Development Center. “It’s amazing how excited they get and how this activity empowers them.”
