Tickets are $25.00 general public; $20.00 for seniors; and $15.00 for students. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Rockwell Hall Box Office, 1300 Elmwood Ave. or by calling 716-878-3005. Box Office hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm.

For over 20 years, the Yellowjackets have flourished as one of America's most loved and top-selling contemporary jazz groups. With fifteen albums, a dozen Grammy nominations, and two Grammy awards, the group continues to blaze a trail into the 21st century.

Initially formed in 1979 to back up guitarist Robben Ford, the band has since demonstrated its mastery of a wide range of musical styles, producing heartfelt ballads and songs inflected with R&B, bebop or fusion with equal expertise. The Yellowjackets feature founding members Russell Ferrante on keyboards and Jimmy Haslip on bass, with bandleader, arranger and versatile reedman Bob Mintzer on saxophone along with the gifted Marcus Baylor on drums. The unmistakable talents of the individual members and their signature sound, energizes and astounds audiences around the world.

The Yellowjackets' newest CD, Mint Jam is a Special Edition Live Recording double CD containing eight brand new Yellowjackets compositions, and updated arrangements of the Yellowjacket classics: "Run Fer Your Life," "Evening News," "Tortoise and the Hare," and "Statue of Liberty." Recorded live at "The Mint" in Los Angeles, Yellowjackets members feel this recording has captured the essence of a live Yellowjackets concert. The band continues to push the creative envelope, establishing the mixture of group interplay and improvisation within strong melodic structures that, in a sense, defines their sound and separates the band from its peers.

The Great Performer Series is sponsored by M&T Bank, The Buffalo News and WBFO.
