Manhattanville and Fredonia Win to Open Men’s Hockey SUNYAC Challenge

BUFFALO, NY – Fredonia and Manhattanville each posted victories tonight to open the SUNYAC Challenge at the Buffalo State Ice Arena.

In the day's first game, Fredonia State (1-0) netted three first-period goals en route to a 5-2 victory over Cortland (0-1). Jordan Oye (Richmond Hill, ON) and Richard Boyce (Mississauga, ON) each had a goal and two assists for Fredonia. Bryan Goudy (Port Huron, MI) added a goal and an assist. Colin Sarfeh (Laguna Niguel, CA) also scored, and Neal Sheehan (Avon Lake, OH) and Matt McKeown (Niagara Falls, ON) each had two assists. Frank Rizzo (St. James, NY) and Gerard Heinz (Kings Park, NY) both scored for Cortland.

In the nightcap, Manhattanville (1-0), the No. 4 ranked team in the nation, defeated host Buffalo State (0-1), 4-2. AJ Mikkelsen (Chestermere, AB) led the Valiants with a hat trick. Arlen Marshall (Quill Lake, SK) added a goal, and Matt Ruberto (Stoney Creek, ON) and Jason Murfitt (Ottawa, ON) each had two assists. Jason Hill (Niagara Falls, NY) and Tyler Soehner (Baden, ON) led the Bengals with a goal and an assist each, and Nick Petriello (St. Catharines, ON) added a pair of assists.
