Men's Basketball Cruises Past New Paltz, 80-65
BUFFALO, NY—Gregg Jones (Syracuse/Nottingham) tallied 21 points as Buffalo State (3-1/2-0) defeated visiting New Paltz (3-4/1-2), 80-65, today in a SUNYAC men’s basketball contest at the Sports Arena.
Buffalo State sprinted out of the gates with an early 13-0 lead. The Hawks never got closer than nine points the rest of the way, as the Bengals cruised to the 15-point win.
Aaron Carter (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) added 16 points for the Bengals, and John Lawal (Hempstead/Uniondale) and Jay Wingate (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) each notched 11. Maurice Douglas led New Paltz with 26 points and eight rebounds. Tony Cannon added 11 points for the Hawks.
Buffalo State will host D’Youville, Hilbert and Medaille in the Holiday Inn Invitational next Friday and Saturday. The Bengals will open with D’Youville on Friday at 8 p.m.
