Men's Basketball Drops Overtime Heartbreaker at Fredonia, 78-75
FREDONIA, NY--Buffalo State (9-10/4-7) raced to a 20-4 lead, but host Fredonia (5-14/2-9) battled back and prevailed, 78-75, in overtime tonight in a SUNYAC game.
Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) led the Bengals with 13 points and 13 rebounds. John Lawal (Hempstead/Uniondale) added 12 points and four steals. DJ Nubine-Mitchell (Marina, CA/Seaside) chipped in 11 points, and Bubba Wood (Brooklyn/Abraham Lincoln) had 10.
Buffalo State extended its early lead to as many as 19 and closed the opening frame with a 38-25 lead. The Bengals still led 67-54 with just over four minutes remaining, before Fredonia closed regulation with a 13-0 run to force overtime. Buffalo State never led in the extra period as Fredonia prevailed with a three-point victory.
Buffalo State will look to snap its six-game losing skid next Tuesday at Brockport.
