Men's Basketball Falls at SUNYIT, 80-77

SUNYIT shot 49-percent from the field and hit 13 three pointers as it edged Buffalo State, 80-77, tonight in a SUNYAC contest in Utica, NY.

After battling to a 38-38 halftime score, SUNYIT took a seven-point advantage midway through the second half. Buffalo State fought back to tie the game and took a four-point lead of its own. The Wildcats reclaimed the lead at 80-77 with 1:37 remaining. Buffalo State could not pull even again, despite an open three-point attempt at the buzzer.

Five Bengals scored in double figures, led by John Lawal (Hempstead/Uniondale) with 16 points. Gregg Jones (Syracuse/Nottingham) added 15 points, and Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) had a career-high 14. Jay Wingate (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) scored 12 points, and Jon Allport-Cohoon (Jamestown/Lockport) had 10.

Buffalo State fell to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in SUNYAC. The Bengals will play at Oswego tomorrow at 4 p.m.
