Men's Basketball Loses at Cortland, 69-58
Buffalo State (9-12/4-9) was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling at Cortland (14-8/9-4), 69-58, tonight in a SUNYAC game.
Cortland hit nine first half three-pointers and took a 39-21 advantage into halftime, holding the Bengals to just 19-percent shooting from the field. Buffalo State found its touch in the second stanza, hitting 60-percent of its shots, and closed the gap to six with 9:19 remaining, but would come no closer. Cortland shot 48-percent for the game, including 42-percent (11-of-26) from three-point range.
Gregg Jones (Syracuse/Nottingham) and Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) each scored 17 points and had seven rebounds for Buffalo State.
Frank Ranieri led Cortland with 21 points. Joe Sargent had 15, shooting 5-of-6, all from behind the three-point arc.
Buffalo State will play at New Paltz tomorrow at 4 p.m.
