Men's Basketball Shoots Past Fredonia, 90-76

BUFFALO, NY—Senior Gregg Jones (Syracuse/Nottingham) made a school record eight three-pointers and tallied a career-high 31 points to lead host Buffalo State (3-1/1-0) over Fredonia (2-2/0-1), 90-76, tonight in the SUNYAC opener at the Sports Arena.

Buffalo State shot 67-percent in the first half and Jones went 6 of 6 from the field and 4 of 4 from three-point range, giving the Bengals a 51-37 lead at the intermission. Buffalo State remained hot in the second stanza, extending its lead to as many as 20 points, before claiming the 14-point win. The Bengals shot 59-percent from the field for the game, and 67-percent from beyond the arc. Fredonia hit 40-percent from the field and connected on 33-percent of its three-point attempts.

Jones finished the game 10 of 13 from the field, including hitting 8 of 9 from long range. James Williams (Brooklyn/William Grady) added 14 points and three assists, and Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) had 13 points.

Tim Anderson (Jamestown/Jamestown) led the Blue Devils with 17 points and six rebounds. Mike Kelly (Corning/Corning East) had 16 points, Devin Watkins (Franklinville/Franklinville) scored 15, and Taha Alassari (Amherst/Sweet Home) added 12.

Buffalo State will visit Oneonta on Friday and SUNYIT on Saturday for a pair of SUNYAC games.
