Men's Basketball Tops Oneonta, 77-65

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (11-10/5-7) dominated visiting Oneonta (7-14/2-11) inside, outscoring the Red Dragons 40-22 in the paint en route to a 77-65 in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.

Oneonta opened the game on a 12-5 run, but Buffalo State responded quickly and held a 33-29 lead at the opening intermission. The Bengals extended their lead to as many as 19 points midway through the second half, before cruising to the 12-point win. Both teams committed 24 turnovers, but Buffalo State outscored the Red Dragons 33-19 off of those turnovers.

Jobany Tirado (Syracuse/Corcoran) led Buffalo State with 16 points and five assists. Gregg Jones (Syracuse/Nottingham) had 15 points, Charles Hepburn (Rochester/Greece-Arcadia) had 14, and Dante Griggs (Bronx/Chester Academy) added 12.

Sean Coffey (New Paltz/New Paltz) led Oneonta with a game-high 28 points, hitting 8 of 12 from three-point range. Jayson Murphy (E. Elmhurst/Robert Wagner) added 13 points, eight board and four blocks.

Buffalo State will host Geneseo on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
