Men's Hockey Picks Up First Conference Win, Defeating Geneseo, 6-3

Buffalo State rolled over Geneseo (3-2-1/0-2) tonight, 6-3, at the Ice Arena. Junior Greg Prybylski (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) and sophomore Mike DeMarco (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) each scored a pair of goals as the Bengals earned their first SUNYAC win of the season.

Both Prybylski's goals and one of DeMarco's came early in the game, as the Bengals out scored the Ice Knights 3-0 after the first period. The Bengals kept the pressure on in the second period with a goal by junior Mike Zalewski (Grand Rapids, MI/East Kentwood), his first of the season, off a pass from junior Brian Janke (Anchorage,AK/Service). The Bengals added two more markers as senior Morgan McElman (Bayside, NB/Berkshire Prep) and DeMarco each found the back of the net to close out the game.

Freshman Jeff Mok (Richmond Hill, ONT/Richmond Hill), sophomore Sean O'Connell (Buffalo, NY/St. Francis) and junior Sean Castagna (San Jose, CA/Ballarmine Prep) each added an assist for Buffalo State, while junior Sean Burke (Barrie,ONT/St.Peter's) registered a pair of assists. Sophomore Shawn Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) made 30 saves between the pipes.

The win elevates the Bengals to 2-3-1 overall and a 1-0-1 mark in SUNAYC play. The Bengals return to the ice at Potsdam on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.
