Men's Hockey Pounds Morrsiville, 7-2
BUFFALO, NY--Michael DeMarco (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) became just the third men’s hockey player in school history to record 100 career points as Buffalo State (6-8-1) defeated visiting Morrisville (4-7-0), 7-2, in a non-conference game tonight at the Ice Arena.
Johnny Duco (Toronto,ON/Cardinal Newman) led the Bengals with one goal and four assists, while Richard Curtis (Ottsville, Pa./Pennridge) and Shareef Labreche (Markham, ON/Markham) each recorded two goals. Jesse Adair (Brampton, ON/North Park) and Joe Curry (Indian River, ON/Norwood) notched one goal apiece. Evan Kernohan and Stefan Carnegie scored for the Mustangs.
The Bengals opened the scoring at the 11:53 mark of the first period, but Morrisville battled back and the teams were tied 2-2 after two stanzas. DeMarco assisted on the game-winning goal just 52 seconds into the third period to pick up his 100th career point and the Bengals tacked on four more markers to close out the scoring.
Kyle Gunn-Taylor (W. Seneca/Orchard Park) made 16 saves as Buffalo State outshot Morrisville, 39-18.
Buffalo State will continue its homestand with a pair of non-conference games against Johnson & Wales next weekend.
