Men's Soccer Drops SUNYAC Opener to Brockport, 1-0
BUFFALO, NY—Brockport (3-1/1-0) scored in the sixth minute of the first half to defeat Buffalo State (2-2-1/0-1), 1-0, in a foul-ridden game that saw a total of 36 fouls and 12 cards handed out in today's SUNYAC contest at Coyer Field.
Brockport’s Jason Rubright (Rochester/Gates Chili) beat Buffalo State goalkeeper Dan Corti (Amawalk/Somers) in a one-on-one situation off a long ball from Jeremy Hinckley (Richfield Springs/Richfield Springs) at the 5:41 mark of the first half for the game’s only tally.
Brockport outshot the Bengals 17-9, while Jack Burgasser (Mendon/Aquinas) had to make just two saves to secure the shutout for the Golden Eagles.
Buffalo State will host Oneonta on Friday at 4 p.m. The Bengals will play without Steve Fox (Oswego/Oswego) and Peter Anthony (Marietta/Tully), who were both ejected from today’s game.
