Men's Soccer Holds Off Cortland, 2-1

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (7-4-1/4-2) defeated Cortland (8-3/4-2) for the first time since 1998, 2-1, in a SUNYAC game today at Coyer Field.

Joatan Humphries (Lawrence/Lawrence) opened the scoring with a rebound goal in the 36th minute. Justin Lofaro (Albany/Guilderland) extended the Bengals lead to 2-0 on a penalty kick early in the second half. Bryan Patterson (Farmingdale/Farmingdale) put Cortland on the scoreboard with a header on a drive by Corey DeVille (Buffalo/Kenmore West) in the 77th minute.

Buffalo State controlled much of the play, outshooting the Cortland, 15-8. Dan Corti (Amawalk/Somers) made two saves for the Bengals. Greg Arnold (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) had five stops for the Red Dragons.

Buffalo State will host Oswego tomorrow at 1 p.m.
