Men's soccer player Shawn McDonell (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore goalkeeper made six saves in a 1-0 shutout win against Potsdam on Saturday, his fourth of the season. He followed that up with a nine-save performance in a 3-1 win over nationally-ranked Plattsburgh on Saturday.

The wins catapulted the Bengals to the top of the SUNYAC standings at 5-1 in conference play and 11-1-2 overall.
