Buffalo State continued its early season success with a 2-1 win at SUNYIT in the conference opener.
The Bengals got on the board first in the sixth minute, when Richard Namulala (Kenmore/Kenmore West) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season. The Wildcats knotted the score at 1-1 early in the second half, but freshman Josh Mitchell (Schenectady/South Colonie) tallied his second collegiate goal in the 83rd minute to give the Bengals the win. Goalkeeper Shawn McDonell (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) preserved the win for Buffalo State as he made 10 saves, including a stop on a penalty kick in the second half.
Buffalo State improved to 6-0-1 and 1-0 in SUNYAC play. The Bengals will visit New Paltz tomorrow for a 1 p.m. contest.
