Men's Soccer Tops New Paltz in SUNYAC Opener
Buffalo State (4-2/1-0) defeated visiting New Paltz (3-4/0-1), 3-0, today, in the first meeting between the two teams since the Hawks ended the Bengals' 2004 season with a double-overtime victory in the SUNYAC quarterfinals.
The Bengals opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Richard Namulala (Kenmore/Kenmore West) blasted a shot past the New Paltz goalkeeper with an assist from Prisco Houndanon (Togo, W. Africa). Freshman Nick Mozg (Williamsville/Williamsville North) extended the Bengals lead in the 75th minute with his first career goal. Houndanon added another assist. Amadu Barrie (New York/MLK) finished the scoring with 12:24 remaining with an assist from goalkeeper Shawn McDonell (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East). McDonell made seven saves for the shutout.
Buffalo State will host SUNYIT tomorrow at 12 p.m.
