Buffalo State's Lauren Mruk (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) were named the SUNYAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively after helping the Bengals to a 10-0 record last week to close out the regular season.

Mruk hit .417 (12-for-29) with five doubles, a homerun, and seven RBI. The freshman thirdbaseman also walked three times, had a stolen base, and had a .690 slugging percentage. She led the Bengals with a .400 batting average in 20 SUNYAC regular season games.

Scheffold posted a 5-0 with a 0.38 ERA for the week. The junior pitcher tossed three shutouts during the week including conference wins over SUNYIT, Potsdam, and a 10-inning 1-0 victory over Geneseo. In 37 innings, she struck out 33 while walking only nine, and allowed just 18 hits.

Mruk and Scheffold will lead the Bengals into the SUNYAC Championships later this week at Cortland. The Bengals, seeded second, will open the tourney on Thursday at noon against the No. 5 seed.
