Music Department Faculty Celebrate Mendelssohn
Two Music Department faculty members are celebrating the 200th birthday of classical composer Felix Mendelssohn with featured performances.
Bryan Boyce, assistant professor of music, will be the guest pianist for the Amherst Chamber Ensembles' Mendelssohn tribute. Boyce will perform Capriccio Brilliant, Op. 22, a work for piano and orchestra.
The Amherst Chamber Ensembles' all-Mendelssohn program takes place on Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church, Harlem and Saratoga Roads in Snyder.
Holly Bewlay, assistant professor of music, will be a featured soprano soloist for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus' "Mendelssohn's Magic!" concert, Sunday, April 26, at 2:30 p.m. at Kleinhans Music Hall, 71 Symphony Circle.
This will be Bewlay's debut performance with the BPO and will include the Western New York premiere of Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2. Tickets are available through the BPO box office (885-5000).
