Musicians Sought for Philharmonia

Community musicians are invited to audition on Monday, August 25, and Wednesday, August 27, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for fall 2014 membership in the Buffalo State Philharmonia.

The Philharmonia is composed of faculty, music majors, non-music majors, area professional musicians, local music educators, and community enthusiasts who are committed to performing the symphonic repertoire at a high level. Led by maestro Paul Ferington, the Philharmonia has been playing concerts since 2009.

"This promises to be another exciting year, especially as we look forward to the performances of two world premieres for solo instruments and orchestra," said Ferington.

For the audition, musicians should select one orchestral excerpt and prepare a short solo piece (three minutes maximum, no accompaniment required). The Philharmonia’s fall concert will be held Tuesday, November 18.
