NCAA Vice President Bob Williams to Speak September 30

Buffalo State alumnus Bob Williams (‘79, broadcasting), vice president of communication for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), will present “Challenges and Opportunities for College Sports Communicators” on Tuesday, September 30, at 10:00 a.m. in E. H. Butler Library 210. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. The campus community is invited to attend.

Noted for his skill as a communicator and strategist, Williams was promoted to vice president of communications at the NCAA in 2010 after serving as managing director of public and media relations for five years. Williams joined the NCAA following a 25-year career in the United States Air Force, where he managed public affairs in a variety of capacities and retired as a colonel.

At the NCAA, Williams leads overall communications with an emphasis on communications strategy and works closely with NCAA members, external constituents, and the media to accurately tell the story of student-athletes who compete in the classroom and on the field. The NCAA represents more than 1,200 member institutions, conferences, and organizations.

Williams received his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting from Buffalo State and his master’s degree in mass communication and public relations from Boston University. He was presented with Buffalo State’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2011.
